2007

  • July 21, 2007: The 2007 summer BBQ was another great success.  Over 75 members and guests gathered together to enjoy great food and a relaxing afternoon with one another. We thank everyone for coming, and hope to see all of you next year!

 

  • March 8th, 2007: Our annual Chinese New Year Dinner at the Metropolitan Hotel in Toronto was a great success. Over 200 attendees joined us and enjoyed a phenomenal meal, luxurious prizes and an exciting and educational speech by K.C. Chan about the opportunities for actuaries in the Asian market.

 

2005

  • September 15th, 2005: Annual General Meeting at the Metropolitan Hotel in Toronto.  Mr. Leslie Lohmann, President of Lohmann International Associates, Tokyo, Japan, gave a talk titled The Influence of Culture on Actuarial Issues.

  • June 2005: Business workshop.  Learn about Level 5 leaders. “They are self-effacing, quiet, reserved, even shy – these leaders are a paradoxical blend of personal humility and professional will."

  • On February 15th, 2005: Annual Chinese New Year Dinner at the Metropolitan Hotel in Toronto.  Mr. Raymond Chang, Chairman of CI Fund Management Inc., gave a talk titled The Significance of Investing in the Pacific Rim in a Global Context.


2004

  • November 24th: Autumn event: a talk featuring Brian Fitzgerald, CIA President, on The Challenges Facing the CIA. This event is jointed presented by The Actuaries Club of Toronto and Pacific Rim Actuaries' Club of Toronto.
  • November 17th: Business Workshop: Conflict Management
  • September 23: Fall Meeting: Dinner and talk featuring former Canadian Institute of Actuaries' and Society of Actuaries' President, Professor Harry H. Panjer.
  • July 24th:  Summer BBQ
  • February 20:  Chinese New Years Meeting at Metropolitan Hotel.  Almost 150 attendees enjoyed a fabulous feast and an informative talk by Mr. Chris Daykin, the Government Actuary for the UK.  Chris talked about the development in Chinese social security and private pensions as well as the development of the actuarial profession in China.  To view Chris' presentation, please click here.  To view photos from the event, please click here.

2003

  • September 4:  10th Anniversary Special Dinner at Lichee Garden.  August Chow, a founding member and past president of the Pacific Rim Actuaries' Club of Toronto, visited from Hong Kong as a guest speaker.  August discussed the Hong Kong insurance market & regulations, and its role after China's entry into the World Trade Organization.
